Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

A privacy site should be able to state its own privacy position plainly. This is ours.

What we collect

Reading this site. Like nearly every website, this site records basic technical information needed to deliver pages: the page requested, the time, a rough geographic area derived from the network address, and the browser type. This information is used to keep the site running and to understand which pages are useful. It is not used to build an advertising profile.

Analytics. We use a privacy-oriented web analytics service that records aggregate page-view and engagement data without building a persistent cross-site profile of individual readers.

Outbound link tracking. Links to vendors may carry a source code identifying which page sent you. It tells us whether a link worked, not who you are.

Email. If you write to us, we keep your message and your address so we can reply. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list, and we do not sell or share that address.

What we never collect

We do not build advertising profiles. We do not run third-party advertising networks. We do not sell, rent, or share reader data. We do not collect the contents of your private browsing or your messages, because we cannot.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of first-party cookies for essential functions, such as remembering a disclosure choice. Analytics is configured to limit further storage. We do not use cross-site advertising cookies, and we do not embed third-party trackers in article pages.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to request correction or deletion, to object to certain processing, or to receive a copy of your data. Email [email protected] and we will respond. We do not require you to create an account to make any of these requests.

Children

This site is written for adults making purchasing decisions for themselves or their households. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not run behavioural advertising to minors.

Third-party vendors

When you follow a link to a vendor, that vendor's own privacy policy governs what happens from that point on. We have no control over their practices and do not read or share your data with them. This is worth noting on a site that evaluates privacy tools.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and note what changed. Questions about it go to [email protected].
