Editorial Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

This page explains how content on ProPrivacyTime is produced, how money is handled, and what happens when we get something wrong.

1. Independence

We are self-funded. No vendor previews our articles before publication, and no vendor can pay to change a conclusion. If a vendor disputes what we wrote, the response is a visible correction — never a quiet edit in exchange for anything.

2. How we choose what to cover

We cover tools that people pay for and depend on for their privacy, prioritized by the questions readers actually ask: what does the policy really promise, what happens if the account is lost, what does it cost after the first term, and what does the vendor's own documentation leave unsaid. We do not cover a product simply because it has an affiliate program.

3. How we evaluate: document reading, not a test bench

Our evaluations are built from vendor-published material and independent laboratory reports. We read logging policies, audit scope pages, security whitepapers, architecture documentation, pricing pages, refund terms, and help-center articles, then explain what they support and where they stop.

We do not run speed tests, infection simulations, or performance benchmarks, and we do not describe any product as "tested" by us. Where an article draws on published documentation rather than direct testing, the article says so. Where independent labs publish results, we describe their methodology and their caveats, not just their conclusion.

4. Verification and dates

Every page states the date the underlying material was current. Policies, refund windows, and renewal rates change often; we re-check them and update affected pages with a dated note when figures change. Where a specific figure could not be confirmed against an official source at publication time, the page marks it for verification rather than publishing a number we cannot stand behind.

5. Affiliate commissions

Some links on this site earn us a commission at no additional cost to the reader. Where an article contains affiliate links, the page carries a disclosure, and the reader can see which links are commercial before clicking. Conclusions are written before commercial terms are discussed, and a commission never moves a product up a list. Details are on the Affiliate Disclosure page.

6. What we will not do

We do not review surveillance products marketed for monitoring other people. We do not publish "best" rankings without stating the criteria, and we do not treat a search-result position as evidence of quality. We do not repeat a vendor's own superlative as our own conclusion — when we quote marketing language, we mark it as the vendor's claim and explain what the underlying document actually says.

7. Corrections

Found an error? Email [email protected]. We correct visibly, with a dated note explaining what changed.
